Manage usage of copyright protected images

Feedback analyses images in a layout and creates reports based upon copyright status of images.
If you are using copyright protected images in your magazine or newspaper, there is a large chance that you have someone spending endless hours on filling in or writing reports.
Feedback can automate the entire process for you, which will free up many hours or even days.

With Feedback you simply point to the folder that contains all your InDesign documents or QuarkXPress projects for the current issue. Once Feedback has analyzed all images you log into the Feedback web interface to create your custom report depending on what information the picture agency needs.
Once the report is created, you send it to your picture agency and you will only be invoiced for those images that you actually used in your publication. Feedback will analyze a whole issue / publication in about 30 minutes so today if you are spending 16 hours a week, you just saved yourself over 15 hours to do something else.
In Feedback you can:

• See all images that were used in the current issue of your newspaper or magazine.
• Get size used of the used images.
• See a preview of the full page and where on the page the images was placed.
• Download a PDF of the page to view offline.
• Create your own custom reports based upon what the picture agency would like to know.
• List all metadata available in all images.

Correct information

Since Feedback is actually analyzing the InDesign file or QuarkXPress project file, it means that the information in the Feedback server is 100% correct. All last minute changes done in the layout application will be shown in Feedback.
It may sound strange but even in 2009 this is still a manual job. Today publishers can spend up to 20 hours on one issue alone, just to write a report on what copyright protected images have been used.

Are you paying too much?

• Not only can Feedback save you many hours but it can also help you determine if you have the right contract with your picture agency. Maybe you are paying for a contract that lets you use an unlimited amount of images, but the reports tells you that you only use a few in every issue.
  
• It saves you hours, even days. It is not unusual that magazine publishers spend 15-20 hours per issue on reporting to picture agencies.
• Update your Digital Asset Management system with correct information regarding image usage, e.g. you don't want to use exactly the same image today that you used yesterday of, say, President Barack Obama.
• Get statistics highlighting what photographers you actually use. No need to have a contract with a photographer if you never use their images.

Currently we have support for Adobe InDesign CS3 and CS4 as well as QuarkXPress 7 and 8. If you are a large publisher, i.e. more than 10 titles, we strongly recommend you to use InDesign Server instead of the desktop version.
